-Sakura 3D Crystal Lacuer  www.Sakuracraft.com

My first adhesive/glue wasn’t even made for use as a glue. Personally I Love It! It works great for all types of jewelry craft. You can use it for glass, plastic, acrylic, metal, shells, whatever. Obviously I swear by this stuff! It’s intended use was to create a 3D crystal lacquer effect and used on jewelry. You add the lacquer to a picture, or piece of printed paper and it creates a three-dimensional effect. You can still use it for that, but I use it as an adhesive. There is no strong fumes, dries clear, and it’s permanent. It takes about two hours to dry, but you can reposition your pieces if you need to. I let my jewelry dry overnight just to be safe. Also all you need is a drop of it for each gluing project. I have a 4 fl oz bottle that I’ve had for about 8 month, and I do a lot of gluing. Check out my website shops. Next time I buy this product I plan on buying it in a large bottle:-)

-3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue

The best feature of this glue is that it dries crystal clear, it has instant grab, and it’s fast drying. It’s great for hundreds of creative uses. Make one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets, earrings, beaded barret’s, any type of wearable that are decorated with beads. Clean your beads before beginning. Remove all residue. Add one embellishment at a time and let dry. Wipe off excess with cotton swab. Glue sets in 30 minute and is completely dry in 24 hours. Once dry glue is permanent. Store at room temperature. Do not freeze.

Industrial strength E6000 is a clear drying flexible epoxy that works well on wood, metal, glass, ceramics, rubber, vinyl, leather, and (most) plastics. Much better than rubber cement. Dries clear, though can form bubbles if you’re trying to use it as a sealant. It can be hard to get to the perfect amount of glue, and can goop out the sides a little if you’re trying to glue something together. It takes about 30 minutes to an hour to make two items stick together, and at least a full 24 hours for the bond to really set in. If used properly it’s very unlikely to pull the two pieces apart. It’s weaknesses are Styrofoam and gluing things that are not laying flat–it takes a long time to dry that gravity will move things around before the bond sets in. MSDS WARNING: FIRE; EXPLOSIVE HAZARDS: Product is non-flammable and non-explosive under normal conditions of use. At high temperatures, product decomposes to give off hydrochloric acid as gas plus other toxic and irritating vapors such as phosgene and chlorine. If storage containers are exposed to excessive heat, over-pressurization can result in container rupture. HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Dizziness may occur at 200 PPM: progressively higher levels can cause irritation of the respiratory tract, drunkenness, nausea, in coordination, unconsciousness and even asphyxiation in confined poorly ventilated areas. Overexposure can cause CNS damage (Central Nervous System). SKIN & EYE CONTACT HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: EYES: Product in eyes can result in discomfort, pain, and irritation. Vapors may irritate the eyes at about 100PPM (Parts Per Million). SKIN: Irritation can develop following repeated and/or prolonged contact and may cause drying or flaking of skin. Read more about other health risks on the label.

Is a non-toxic and conforms to ASTM DA236 standards (Standard Practice for Labeling A Material f or Chronic Health Hazards). Welbond doesn’t test on animals and it doesn’t contain any animal by-products. It has been tested for environmental safety and performance. It’s a universal adhesive for glass, wood, plastic, slates, tiles, building panels, boards and blocks, cement, brick, cement, concert, linoleum, fabrics, and more. Weldbond is white in its container but dries clear. It is water-resistant but not waterproof, impervious to gasoline, oil, grease, salt, molds and fungi, weak alkalies and weak acids, is non-staining and will not become brittle with age. It creates a flexible bond. It’s concentrated and can be thinned with clean water only. It is ready for use, it does not require heating or mixing. Make sure all surfaces to be bond are clean and free from ridges that would prevent 100% contact. Remove all loose particles. All oil, grease and dirt must be removed. Porous surfaces must be sealed with 1 part Weldbond to 5 parts water. Porous surfaces can be determined by dropping a small amount of water on the surface. If the water is readily absorbed, surface is porous. If water beads on the surface it is not porous. Check for warping of material and use clamping where warping is evident.  **NOTE: The sealing mixture should not be used where water alone would have an adverse effect, i.e. on water-soluble fillers.  TIP: Bonding Porous Surfaces: First seal both surfaces as above.  Allow to dry (approx. 1 hour then spread thin-film of Weldbond over both surfaces and clamp lightly to tape until cured. Bonding Non-Porous Materials: Spread thin-film on both surfaces. Leave open for 1 to 2 minutes to become tacky and slightly transparent, then squeeze both surfaces together with a slight turning motion. The Longer it is left to cure, the stronger the bond. When cured the bond is clear. Higher temperature and lower humidity speeds curing. Glue can be applied with a brush, roller, sponge, spray gun, or soft broom. Rinse tools thoroughly with clean water after use. Using Weldbond as an additive will improve moisture resistance and reduce porosity in concert/cement mixes/grout and plasters. ECONOMY: Concentrated Weldbond provides substantially more coverage than other adhesives if used appropriately and dilutes for further economy. It can be diluted with  up to 25% water to make a lower cost glue suitable for applications such as dense wood and glass to glass. Even this diluted mixture creates an exceptional bond.

Good for all types of work with fabric, textiles, leather, plastic and foam. This is a great glue to use for sealing knots. Precision point applicator dries crystal clear. Perfect for all kinds of precise applications:

-Sticky Ass Glues:

This is the best glue on the market. Whether you’re using it as a home repair glue, a shoe glue, a woodworking glue, or a construction glue; there’s no doubt about it, this is a versatile glue. 100% Waterproof solids polyurethane adhesive. It will successfully bond dozens of various substances including fiberglass, wood, ESP board, aluminum, PVC, plastic, foam, brick, concert, ceramic, stone, glass, Formica, ABS, cardboard, tile, rubber, granite, travertine, dry wall, and more. Whether you’re a hobbyist, or crafters this is the glue you need any time you need to adhere two surfaces together, whether same or one porous and one nonporous and smooth. Doesn’t matter–This glue can do it right the first time. It makes a great craft glue for objects that have stubborn surfaces (like plastic and glass_ that will not stick together with other glues. It is recommended that this glue be used while wearing protective rubber gloves. When dry it’s stubbornly strong.  TIPS: This glue works very well for lots of household repairs where epoxy glue or some other contact adhesives is not necessary. However, it is not a substitute for epoxy glue or other contact adhesives. This glue does not become sticky right after application. The plus side is that you have plenty of time to maneuver something into position, and if you make a mistake, you can easily move what you are gluing to another position. The downside is that for some applications you need some kind of external clamp from the start to keep the glued pieces together. So depending on the repair, epoxy or some other contact adhesive may be preferable to work with because the glued pieces stick together almost immediately. As it cures and dries it swells and puffs up. It enlarges 3x the volume of glue you used on the job. Take this into consideration when you apply the glue. You can trim the excess with a knife. This excess trimming is better accomplished before the glue has entirely dried. 3-4 hours to hold hard. 24 hours for top strength.

Sticky Ass H2No: This sealant is solvent-free. MS Polymer adhesive sealant that will seal and bond an extensive variety of materials including wood, metal, fiberglass, concrete, glass, and plastic. Because this is mold and water-resistant, as well as UV and weather resistant, this non-yellowing sealant is ideal for both indoor and outdoor projects. It also boasts other benefits for users needing an adhesive sealant with incredible initial high tack. Virtually odorless, and completely color stable, and paitable. H2No is not a typical Silicone or Polyurethane sealant, making it a more eco-friendly sealant than competing sealants on the market. It can also be used as a caulk.

-Amazing Goop Glue

This is a contact adhesive and sealant. It bonds and seals. It glues whatever bonds you create, forever. It will glue ASB, PVC, Brass, Copper, Aluminum, and Ceramic. It’s paintable.  TIPS:  Surface must be clean, dry, and  free of dirt. Use in a well ventilated area. Test on a small area first. Apply to each surface to be glued. Allow to sit 2-10 minutes to cure. Allow bond to set for 24 hours. Always clean tube threads with naphtha or acetone. Store at room temperature with cap tightened. It’s not recommended for polystyrene, or polypropylene plastics, and cannot be used on Styrofoam or paper. It can be used as an excellent water-resistant sealant and is water-resistant immediately on application. You can use it in 50-60 degree temperatures, and it will withstand 40-100 degrees fahrenheit. DO NOT USE on any objects that are meant for animals, food or drinking water. It can be used for sealing pipes, gutters, and porcelain fixtures, and it is stronger than silicone on PVC or garden hoses. It won’t break or crack under pressure.

-Amazing Goop Craft: Great for: canvas, ceramic, fabric, leather, metal, vinyl, and wood.

  1. Thank you for your post. Might I ask you a question?
I am doing a project where I have to glue cork to more cork. It must be flexible and withstand temperature extremes. What would you suggest for a glue?

  2. I have a question that OK hoping you can answer. I am redoing a lil tikes truck for my niece. The problem is she wants it pink camo. So I was planning on using fabric bonded to the plastic. What should I use to give me a good strong bond that wont come loose over time? Think if it as mod poge kind of possess…thank you!

  3. Saw this very complete list and discussion but don’t see the “Best Glue Ever” by ScraPerfect listed. Seriously– just like the name says– it does so many things that specialty glues do–but you don’t need a different glue for every application! It is the best for glitter and other fine bling because of the super-fine writing tip, it doesn’t wrinkle with paper to paper, or adhering embellishments made of plastic, wood, cork, foam, ribbon, metal foil. It’s super-strong, fast-grab, dries clear, flexible, tacky and permanent. you can even make your own glue spots. It’s not a repair glue for plastic or china, though as it dries flexible.

  4. Thank you so much for this. I have just discovered a love for arts and crafts and your post really helped. Thanks for sharing your wealth of experiences 🙂

  5. I have been using E6000 to attach foil backed rhinestones to leather but they keep coming off. Do you have a reccomendation for another adhesive to use for leather clothing.

  6. I am putting crystals to cloth cording on a high used item, and need a FAST QUICK drying glue that absorbs quickly into the threads quickly and holds in an angled position immediately so it doesn’t slide. This is a high volume assembly so I need something that works well and fast. Non toxic because it is in a closed area, around a lot of people.

  7. WOW! I feel like a glue guru now! Thank-you so much. I keep buying glue based on the labels, and so I have a ton of glue that seemed useless to me. Now, I can go through it and know what to do with each type. I can keep what I need and give to other crafters the stuff that sounded good, but was useless for me.
Quit reading this and post another blog! Maybe one on wiring pendants???
